The Third Annual Philadelphia Burger Brawl. The event will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Fleisher Art Memorial, located on 719 Catherine Street in South Philadelphia. More than twenty of the city’s top burger chefs compete to see which burger is the best.  The invitation only event sells out annually and more than 700 attendees are expected. Marc Summers will emcee the event. 

Participants for 2013 include:  10 Arts Bistro & Lounge, 500 Degrees, AllaSpina, Barbuzzo, Butcher and Singer, The Capital Grille, The Corner, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, The Dandelion, Fat Jack’s BBQ, Chef George Sabatino, Good Dog Bar, The Industry, Kennett, London Grill, Lucky’s Last Chance, Misconduct Tavern, Percy Street Barbecue, Rex 1516, Rouge, Shake Shack, Silk City, South Philadelphia Tap Room, Spencer ETA Burger and Table 31 (to date, list incomplete). Wasserman’s restaurants, 500 Degrees and Rouge will offer burgers, but do not take part in the competition. Past winners include Jen Carroll from Ten Arts and Michael McNally from London Grill in 2011 and David Wiederholt from The Capital Grille and Bobby Flay from Bobby’s Burger Palace in 2012. Prizes are awarded for Judges’ and People’s Choice. Tickets to the Third Annual Philadelphia Burger Brawl include Burger tastings from all participating restaurants, cocktails from Jim Beam, beer tastings from Dogfish Head brewery, Rita’s Water Ice, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and more.  Children under 10 are admitted free with a ticketed adult.

New to the 2013 Burger Brawl is a bartender competition featuring Jim Beam Jacob’s Ghost White Whiskey. Bartenders from Butcher and Singer, The Capital Grille, The Corner, The Dandelion, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, Ela, The Industry, Jamonera, Kennett, London Grill, Misconduct Tavern, Rouge will mix inventive cocktails with the spirit. The top recipe will be chosen by event-goers. The winning bartender will receive $750 from Southern Wine & Spirits.
