  26. Hi! I couldn’t win for myself, as I live in Ireland. But my father would love this! So if it’s possible to win it as a gift to someone in the US, there’s a chance I can make it to see dad next year and he is a FABULOUS cook. I can’t imagine what he would come up with; he still has some beef from the cows he raised, however, and I’m sure he could come up with something wonderful for a family dinner.

  38. Jan Urban says:

I already posted (above, last night), but just realized I didn’t put what I would cook! Having a tough time deciding which of two recipes I would make, so I’ll list both. I make a beef roast recipe I call Three Onion Roast that also has lots of fresh herbs in it. After the roast is finished, a little wine is added to the drippings with the herbs and cooked down on the stove to serve over the roast and mashed potatoes – that would be a good one to make in the braiser. But I also have a recipe where I braise pork chops, make a gravy from the drippings, then put the pork chops back in and let that cook in the oven for a while – would also be great done in the braiser. So many things I would use it for!

  89. kbosin says:

Living on the Chesapeake Bay, I always think of local seafood first. Now that it’s winter, and my neighbors leave the house before dark to go hand-tong oysters in the dark winter waters, I’ve gotta think oyster stew. One with bacon, probably, to start, and a few potatoes, fish stock and fresh, local Chesapeake Oysters. Heavy (oh yeah) cream. YUM! If I win I’ll send you photos and blog about it on http://www.chesapeakejournal.com! Thanks for the delicious idea. I think I’ll make that this weekend whether I win or not. Happy Holidays to you!
