This past weekend the hubby and I decided to go out on a datenight at Parx Casino here in Bensalem Pennsylvania.
Parx Casino has so much to offer now it’s like a one stop shop for a good time. From amazing restaurants (which to me is the most important), to fun shows/concerts at their Xcite Center and of course who doesn’t want to try their hand on some slots or table games?
We made reservations to try out the Parx Grill Steakhouse. Upon arrival we were greeted by an awesome staff. As we looked through the menu they brought over this basket filled with bread, biscuits and this addictive cracker. To start we ordered some wine from the extensive wine list. We enjoyed a Pinot noir, which I thought would go great with dinner. Then we moved on to the fun stuff… the food. We started with some appetizers to share. I ordered the Clay Pot Crispy Fire Shrimp (yum) and my husband choose Thick Cut Glazed Nueske’s Bacon blue cheese, heirloom tomatoes, peppercorn sauce (this was seriously the absolute best cut of bacon I have ever tasted). Moving on to the main course… I usually don’t go for the specials but our waitress Kaitlyn sold me on the seafood feast with lemon risotto and my husband ended up getting a blue cheese and herb crusted filet with a fried green tomato (my mouth is still drooling thinking about it. The filet was cooked to perfection good and in the words of my husband the steak was like butter. My seafood feast included lobster tail, scallops, shrimp and crab meat. The risotto was fantastic, and I could have eaten that all on its own. We couldn’t finish off an amazing dinner without sharing some dessert. We ordered a tiramisu and some bourbon on the rocks to share.
Once our bellies were full we went over to the Xcite center to watch Old Crow Medicine Show. They put on such a high energy and fun performance with tons of humor and instruments abound. The Xcite center is a great venue for concerts without a bad seat and the volume level is perfectly mixed. This was my second time going to watch a show there, and certainly won’t be my last. Comfortable seats and great views make it even better with a great performance (which Parx always has a variety coming in). After the show we decided to play some fun slots, though my husband is more of a card game guy. We didn’t win but hey it’s part of the fun of being in a casino.
To end the night we stepped into the beer garden, yes Parx Casino has a beer garden! This hidden gem in the back of the casino has a great selection of brews and outdoor seating for those summer nights, or even those chilly nights with fire pits. The beer garden also has some great bites to enjoy.
All around we had such a fun date night. Sometimes you just need to step away with your loved one and enjoy each other.
