Italians aren’t just known for food and romance. They really put in the time for creating beautiful cars from exterior fineness to a gorgeous interior.
The Giulia’s interior immediately gives the impression of being transported to Italy with its dashboard center stack angled towards the driver for easy reach, and supportive seats. Sitting in the Giulia’s driver’s seat is reminiscent of being in a race car. My favorite thing about the interior is the placement of the start/stop button on the steering wheel. Alfa’s insides feel more spacious and welcoming with a warmer ambiance, thanks to the Giulia’s Lusso Light Wood inserts and Crema leather giving off a vibe designed by one of Italy’s most known fashion designers Versace. There’s plenty of room for up to five adult passengers, as long as not many of them are over six-feet tall. We traveled all the way to Cape May, NJ almost a 2 hour trip where my husband sat in the back with my kids so my mother in law could be comfortable. But in fact he said was comfortable as well sitting in the back with the kids. Alfa Romeo Giulia comes with a long list of standard features including a rearview camera, remote start, a 6.5-inch display (8.8-inch optional), three USB ports, an AUX jack, Bluetooth (phone and audio), an eight-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Depending on the trim and packages, you can also add on heated leather seats, heated steering, an 8.8-inch display, navigation, a Harman Kardon sound system, a dual-pane sunroof, and a range of driver assist technologies.
The overall design of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, like all Alfas, is highlighted by the sedan’s grille. Making it eye catching on the road. Fuel economy for the Alfa Romeo Giulia comes in at 23/31 mpg* for the models with all-wheel-drive. Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the Alfa Romeo Giulia makes a total of 280 horsepower and a maximum torque of 306 lb-ft. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 60 mph arrives in just 5.1 seconds for the AWD models, and 5.5 seconds for RWD models.
After enjoying Alfa Romeo Giulia for a week, I was very pleased with my first experience in an Alfa. Now I understand why people really like this brand as it focuses on its performance heritage across the lineup. It really is a breath of fresh air in the sports sedan world. Alfa Romeo was my favourite car of all time though I’ve only had one, a Spider bought new in the 1970s. Even without all the present day tech it was an awesome drive, sticking to the road like no other. If money was no object I’d go for a Alfa Romeo 8C Spider even now.
