Homemade Chocolate Crumbled Bacon (Turkey Bacon)

IMG_20130326_170225

I am a chocoholic and am proud of it.  I love almost any kind of chocolate and am willing to try different flavors.  I came across a chocolate with bacon before and was in love, but I was really in the mood for some tonight and just wanted that quick fix. So I went ahead and prepared my own dark chocolate with bacon.  I have mentioned before that I am big on the sweet and savory lately and this just compliments a nice glass of red vino. Chocolate is such an easy thing to prepare at home and personally I think so much better because you know its being made by you.  You can get so creative in adding so much to the mix.  So have fun and enjoy. I think this would be a great gift for Easter.

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Semi Sweet Dark Chocolate Chips

1/2 Cup of crumbled Turkey Bacon

Preparation:

Start by filling a pot with water, and heat to just below simmering. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl, such as stainless steel, and place the bowl on top of pot. Gently and constantly stir the chocolate while keeping the water below simmering. This should take about 5 minutes or so. When chocolate is completely melted add bacon crumbles stir.

Pour the Chocolate mix on a piece of parchment paper and smooth out until you have a nice think layer (or you can make as thick as you would want) Let sit in the refrigerator for about 1/2 hour or place in the freezer for 15 minutes.
